Winter Class Schedule 2018


We are starting a new series of classes for beginners, intermediate, and advancing players

    1. Introduction to Bridge (I and II) $125/six-week session
    2. Introduction to Defense (I) Part 1 of 2: $150 for six week session or $30/individual class
    3. Topics in Bridge: Hold-Up Play, Avoiding Danger, Common Sense Defense, Transportation, and End Plays
    4. Jacoby 2NT Convention (2 Week Class) $50. Tuesday January 9 and 16th at 9:45 am - 11:45 am
    5. Planning to Win: (Introduction to Play of the Hand Part I)

1. Introduction to Bridge (I and II):

This introductory course teaches the fundamentals of the game. If you have never played this game, or you have not played in a very long time, or if you would like to start over, from the beginning then this course is for you (Part II starts immediately after completion of Part I).

Each course meets for six weeks.

Each class meets twice each week.

    Students will learn how to choose the best contract, and then
    get lots of practice playing hands trying to make their chosen contract.

Cost for each six-week (twelve-session) course is $125.

Textbook: "Beginning Bridge by Barbara Seagram and Linda Lee $25.

Introduction to Bridge I:   Starts with the basics, and includes, what to open, what to respond, and the second round of bidding.


Morning Class starts Monday April 30th

Meets Mondays from 9:30 am - 11:30 am and Wednesdays from 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm

Introduction to Bridge II:   Continues with the Basics, Competitive Bidding, and Introduces Conventional Bids, Stayman, Jacoby Transfers, Strong 2C Opening Bid, Weak Two's and Preempts.

2. Deadly Defense: Making the Most of Your High Cards (Introduction to Defense Part 1)
    This six-week "Play and Learn" course will cover some of the basics required for good defense
    Class starts Monday January 15th at 1:00 pm
    Meets every Monday for six weeks from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
    Cost is $150 for all six weeks or $30/session

           Leading against Notrump Contracts
           Leading Against Suit Contracts
           Second Hand Low
           Second Hand Low, Except!
           Third Hand High
           Review

3. Topics in Bridge: Improve your play and take more tricks
    Class starts Tuesday January 16th at 1:00 pm
    Meets every Tuesday for six weeks from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
    Cost is $150 for all six weeks or $30/session

           Avoiding Danger
           Common Sense Defense

           Introduction to Endplays
           Review

4. Jacoby 2NT Convention: (2 Week Class) $50
    Class meets Tuesday January 9th and January 16th from 9:45 am - 11:45 am
    Cost is $50 for both sessions or $25/lesson

5. Planning to Win: (Introduction to Play of the Hand Part I)
This is a good follow up class for anyone who has completed a Beginning Bridge Class, or for anyone who wishes to work on the basics of good declarer play

    Class starts Wednesday January 31st at 9:00 am
    Meets every Wednesday from 9:00 am - 11:00 am for six weeks
    Cost is $125 for all six weeks or $25/session
    This course introduces basic declarer play techniques
    Students will also get lots of bidding review and practice
    Topics covered will include:
           Week 1: Counting Winners and Entries in NT
           Week 2: Counting Losers and Drawing Trump
           Week 3: Promotion in Suits and NT
           Week 4: Using Length in Suits and NT
           Week 5: The Finesse
           Week 6: Practice and Review
